WIP and Life

OK, my life has changed in the last few weeks, I have not been working as much and have to go job hunting. I just don't know what I want to do, I was thinking of getting out of the restaurants and trying something different. I'm just not sure. All I know it that working 2 days a week, 12 hours, just DON'T pay the bills and feed my habits. Tony is still out of work but is getting some great job offers, he has one from Homestead Golf and Country Club in Lynden he will know sometime this week. He just returned from the Hotel Bellwether on Bellingham Bay they are looking for an Executive Chef, has a second interview tomorrow. So we will see what happens there.
As for me I'm just playing it by ear to see what happen with Tony and then I can go from there.

WIP
I just finished Micheal's X-box Socks, his name for them. I'm so very glad to have them out of my way. He has big feet, size 12, so it takes awhile to knit. They are a simple rib K2 P2 through the leg and plain stockinette stitch down the foot. Now that he has them on his big feet he wants more. I said, I would work on more but as an in between sock not a steady sock to be done asap. The next pair will be made with fewer stitches, this pair don't stay up, a little bit to big but Micheal doesn't know the different since all his socks sag.

I have started a pair of socks call "Nutkin" and am using Hazel Knits yarn "Chocolatier" I love this yarn. It is wonderful to knit with and the colors are very subtle, they blend so well together.
The pattern is very easy to memorize and looks great. This picture doesn't do the sock any justice. You can see the changes in the yarn but the pattern dosn't show as the sock gets longer, maybe I can get a better picture.

This month I have been busy knitting not so much with sock but I've been making fingerless gloves. I've made several pairs of Serpentine Mitts and a pair of Symmetrical Braided Gauntlets. The gauntlets, I used Debbie Bliss, cashmerino aron, I really enjoyed using this yarn it knits beautifully. The only problem I had with this pattern and not fault of the pattern but the knitters, the cable. For some reason on the last gauntlet I could not for the life of me keep my cables going the right way I must have frogged back several times and started over once. But I would make this pattern again it was fun and easy.

Death by Socks

This is the pair that killed me. They where made by Beth Braun from Seattle. She used Knit Picks Risata yarn in Cocoa. They are made of 42% cotton 39% superwash wool 13% polyamid & 6% elite. I have to admit they are not as warm as my wool socks but they keep my feet warm.

In today's mail I just received my order from Knit Picks some more needles I went to work on my Fake Isle hat and didn't have the right size circular needle no size 6 in a 16" so I had to buy, I also got a size 7 16" and dp 7. So I should be set in needle for a little while you never know. I'm always losing one or sitting on them and breaking one.

OK I've been bad I bought more yarn This is from fritzl@etsy.com
Its a PennyRose Yarns 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon called "Winter Love" I fell in love with this color when I seen it on her blog and had to have. Forgive me for my weakness. I must try harder to not crave more.
What they need to do it take the internet from me so I can't keep looking for more. I have found another dyer called SockPixie she as some beautiful yarns I am tempted. Her blog is sockpixie.blogspot.com if you are curious please take a look at her yarns I know that I will break down and buy.
My minds gone blank and I need to get back to my knitting, so keep those sticks a click'ng and have a great week.

Knit Knit Knit as fast as you can

Death by Socks are done I'm so glad, it was a fun pattern, "Best Wishes" by Jeanie Townsend. I started the on the 15th around 5 pm. and finished the 19th 6 pm. And are my fingers sore But I can't wait to start something new but first I have to finish up a few projects. I knit this pair of sock for Carissa in Oregon I used The Knittery yarn Merino Cashmere Sock colorway Water Lilies. Now all I can hope for is that Carissa likes the socks. They will go out into the mail on Tuesday.

I've been working on Micheals X-box socks, That's what he calls them. I'm about 1.5 inches from the toe decrease. Size 12 is so bigggg. Sometimes it feels like they go on forever. He likes the yarn it is Yarn Pirates Oct. Booty Club "Killer Bees" I guess it reminds him of a video game "The Killer Bees" who knows with teenagers. I had him try them on and the only thing he could say way hurry up these feel so good, I know they will be my favorite socks. I've been working on another pair of Serpentine Mitts, this pair is out of Knit Picks Essential Black this pair is for a coworker, Linda.

O.K. I bought some more yarn this yarn in from http://www.meliabella.esty.com/ Keegan Lane Yarns I love this colorway of hers its called Perfect Proposal. Melissa's interpretation of her Friend wedding colors is beautiful, chocolate brown, lilac, violet, indigo, baby pink and cream. She also add a stitch marker to go with the yarn. She has some wonderful yarns and has a sock club I just wish I could join.

Here is a couple of new yarns I bought on eBay from a dyer named Jim Trippe. His store is called Oldfield Creek Sock & Yarn. I really like his yarns and he has great customer service. The first is Superwash Colonial Wool and nylon it is Shades of Charcoal and True-Blues. The other yarn is a panda, merino wool, bamboo & nylon Blackberry & Burlap. Both yarns have a great yardage 460 yds. I hope to buy more of his yarns, they are very soft.

What's on the Sticks and Yarn

Here's what I've been up to with my knitting. I haven't been doing much at all lately just kinda taking my time at knitting. I have been working on Micheal's socks I just got 6" done on the leg. Haven't worked very hard. I made a pair of Serpentine Mitts for Kayla, I made them out of Fearless Fibers, Midnight Passion, a semi-solid purple they turned out good.

I made a pair of Fetching fingerless gloves, I used RYC Classsic Yarn Silk Wool DK, colorway Velvet. I enjoyed using this pattern its easy and fast you can make a pair in a day or two. I made these on my days off.
I have also started another pair of Serpentine Mitts in Black, I'm using Knit Picks Essential. They are for Linda at work, only 3 more pair to make of different pairs and then I'm done. Who knows what will be next.

I got my "Be My Valentine Charlie Brown" from Woolgirl this week. I can't say enough about this kit. We received the greatest looking yarn from White Oak Studio's Jana did a wonderful job on the yarn the colors are red, pink and brown. A pattern to go with the yarn, an accessory bag that Jen's mother-in-law made it is fully lined. An adorable heart stitch marker made by Sunne, a Charlie Brown Card and my favorite Chocolate.

I made a purchase from Woolgirl during her sale. So instead of individual pictures I used a basket. So here is what I bought. From top left:Suede Rose by Miss Babs, Bubble Gum by SeaCoast Yarns, Fireberry by Hazel Knits, Desert Rose by Vancalcar Acres Flock Sock Yarn, Raspberry Cane by Miss Babs, Dinasaur by Spunky Electric, Charlie Brown Valentine by White Oak Studio, Night by Mama Llama, Zarth by The Knittery, Woolgirl by Lavender Sheep, and Frostbitten Violets by Macek Designs. If you want better pictures they are all done individually on my Flicker page.
I can't think of much else right now. So keep these sticks a click'n and have a weekend.

On the Sticks and in the Collection

I made a pair of fingerless gloves. I used a pattern by Mariam L. Felton called Serpentine Mitts. A very simple but graceful looking gloves. I'm happy with the way they turn out I only had one problem and that was they were to small for my hands so I gave them away and now I have more requests for them, at least they don't use much yarn and are a fast knit. I have another pair on the sticks, the yarn is by Fearless Fiber in Midnight Passion semi-solid purples.

I have bought some more yarn, from my lys, Apple Yarns, to make 2 more pairs of fingerless gloves. I want to make Fetching from Knitty and Princess Mitts from Potter Craft News. I bought Sublime, extra fine merino wool, dk, 50 g, shade 0015, its a shale blue. Also I got Classic Yarns, silk wool dk, 50% merino and 50% silk. The color is called Velvet. Its so soft.

I also decided, I wanted to try to make a hat. I figured if Gena can do it, so can I. So I'm going to make a Fake Isle Hat found http://www.magknits.com/Nov06/patterns/fakeisle.htm I know that I CAN do this.

I also had to, buy some sock yarn. I wanted something I didn't have, the owner's son thought that I needed some "hippy yarn" wild colors is what he showed me. I have heard a lot about Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn, my only concern I have, is that it is rough and I hope it softens up a lot, I have heard it does and the owner said the samething. The colorway is S95. It looked hippy enough for me.

I have to start a pair of socks for Micheal. He picked out Yarn Pirates October Booty Club. The color is on the bold and wild sided, its not a color combo the I would have picked for him. I'm going to do a basic ribbed sock, no wild patterns for me he says. So I'm going to make it very simple ribbed leg and stockinette for the foot. How much more boring can you get.

Well that's all for now, Keep those sticks a clicking and have a great New Year. Cheers
